Fresh talent grown locally. The Rural Enterprise Academy Tours
Is your son or daughter currently in year 8? Do you think they would benefit from new surroundings and a unique curriculum as they progress into year 9? Why not book a tour of the Academy? Please ring Sarah Walker, Business Manager, on 01785 333360 to book an appointment.
Set within the grounds of South Staffordshire College’s stunning 180 hectare rural Rodbaston Estate in Penkridge, The Rural Enterprise Academy is the first free landbased school in the UK. One of a kind, and rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, it offers a unique curriculum that blends traditional GCSEs with vocational qualifications in subjects including Agriculture, Animal Care and Horse Management. Having opened in 2012, the varied curriculum is already proving to be a real success, with the Academy seeing a 100% pass rate in landbased subjects in their most recent GCSE results. Results for English and Maths were also impressive and were both above the national average.
In addition to this academic success, the Academy prides itself on it’s ability to deliver an inspiring educational experience where each student has ample opportunity to thrive. Principal Lorraine Makin says “The Rural Enterprise Academy is a small school, which means each learner is much more than a face in a crowd. Every child is treated as an individual and nurtured to ensure they fulfil their potential. We’re extremely proud to be able to offer an exceptional learning experience that centres on the individual aspirations of each pupil.”
This view is one that is mirrored by both pupils and parents too. Research carried out by the Academy suggested that 100% of students feel they are both well taught and well looked after. Positive feedback from parents includes comments such as “Sending my son to the Academy was the best decision I’ve ever made. It has increased his self-confidence enormously and the support he receives is second to none.”
The Academy’s idyllic location on the grounds of South Staffordshire College’s Rodbaston Campus, means learners also have access to fantastic on-site facilities including a zoo which is home to over 1000 animals, a working farm, an International School of Floristry and an Equine Centre.
