The Rural Enterprise Academy Open Event takes place on Thursday 23rd March 2017
Based at the heart of South Staffordshire College’s Rodbaston Campus in Penkridge, The Rural Enterprise Academy are once again offering prospective learners and parents the opportunity to come and find out more about all the Academy has to offer at their open event.
The event, which takes place from 6.00pm – 8.00pm on Thursday 23rd March 2017 is the perfect chance for those who have missed out on previous events to tour the impressive facilities, meet the staff and students and explore the range of unique educational opportunities at the UK’s first free land based school.
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and open to learners from year 9 upwards, the Rural Enterprise Academy gives learners the chance to study a blend of traditional GCSEs and A Levels, alongside vocational land based qualifications in subjects including Animal Care, Agriculture and Horse Management. This curriculum offer is proving not only to be extremely popular, but also a real success. This year, the Academy saw a BTEC pass rate of 100 percent in animal care, with 93% of learners achieving Distinction*.
Supported by South Staffordshire College, Veolia and the NFU, the Academy opened its doors in 2012 in response to demand from both the local community and businesses, who recognise the need to train young people for careers in the land based sectors. Learners at the Academy benefit from outstanding facilities, including the latest Google technologies, which gives them split second access to the internet and the ability to collaborate in real-time. Further enhancing their learning, learners also have access to South Staffordshire College’s extensive facilities including the equine yard, working farm, cafes and ‘Animal Zone’ which is home to over 1000 animals.
The Rural Enterprise Academy is now accepting applications into Years 9 and 12 for September 2017, and those who are interested in applying are being encouraged to do so early as places are limited. Why not visit the event on 23rd March to find out more?
There is no need to pre-register for any event, those interested can simply drop in at the times and dates above.
