News and Events

Welcome to the Rural Enterprise Academy.

Lorraine Makin - Principal

As the Principal of the new Rural Enterprise Academy, I would like to welcome you to our website. Here you will be able to find out everything that is happening at the Academy, including forthcoming events and the latest news, together with helpful information for learners and their parents/carers.

We have recently moved into the first phase of our new Academy building, staff and students are delighted with the quality of our environment. Next spring the second phase will be completed; this will include an additional suite of teaching rooms as well as a sports hall. Sited in the grounds of South Staffordshire College there can be few schools in the county that enjoy a more beautiful environment. Wherever possible students take advantage of the excellent facilities from the zoo to the land.

If you would like to know more please come to one of our open events where you can meet staff and current pupils.

Sports’ Day

Thursday 20th July is the TREA Sports’ Day.

Mr Sedgwick has been busy organising a range of sporting events in preparation for Thursday’s sports’ day. There will team events in the morning followed by individual events, such as 100m sprint, long jump and discus, in the afternoon. As the events are taking place throughout the entire day, students are asked to come dressed for the occasion – in Academy PE kit only (no football tops, etc.).

Students have also been asked to bring a £1 donation which will be added to the Charity Cannock Chase walk fund.

Unfortunately, if the weather takes a turn for the worse, sports’ day will have to be cancelled. If this is the case, Year 10 students will have their land-based session as normal.

GCSE results

The Academy will be open for Year 11 students to collect their GCSE and BTEC results between 9.00 am and 11.00 am on Thursday 24th August.

If anyone is unable to collect them in person, results will be posted. Or, alternatively, a representative can collect them but please contact the Academy to arrange this.

Revised bus timetables – 10th -21st July

South Staffordshire College students finish on Friday 7th July so, for the last two weeks of term (Monday 10th – Friday 21st July), the bus times and routes for Academy students will differ slightly.

All routes, with the exception to route 17, will be served by South Staffordshire College minibuses. Pick-up places remain the same but please check the route numbers and pick-up times on the revised timetable: bus timetables 10th – 21st July

Geography Field trip to Llandudno

Pupils have to complete two fieldwork expeditions for GCSE geography. The first piece of fieldwork will take place on Wednesday 20th September 2017 for Year 11 pupils. They will visit Llandudno for the day; looking at coastal management of the north shore.

In order to provide some light relief pupils will participate in a tobogganing session in the afternoon.

The cost of the trip will be £19.00 to include transport and the tobogganing. As pupils have already paid £5 for the cancelled human geography fieldwork trip to Brindley Place, this should be deducted from the total cost, meaning an additional payment of £14.00 is requested.

Further details about the trip and the permission slip can be viewed here: geography field work September 2017
